Red River Resort
Motel
Ideally situated for
sport fishing and launching river adventures, the Red River Resort Motel is located at the north end
of Drayton, ND. The motel has a newly rennovated bait shop, boat rentals and is
conveniently located for quick access to the river. The motel is located just five
blocks from the city boat landing, which is upriver from the Drayton Dam, with a
second boat landing, located just below the dam, approximately 1 1/2 miles from the motel. The Drayton Dam is a popular
fishing spot for both boat fishing and shore fishing. We sport a wide variety
of fish including big catfish, walleye, northern pike and
sauger. A boat is great for exploring and fishing the river,
but not absolutely
necessary. Many come to fish from the banks, which offer the same
great fish and fishing, as boat fishing. If you want to boat fish, but
don't own a boat, rent one of ours.

Capital of the North
Drayton is known as
the Catfish Capital of the North for good reason. We've got plenty of
big catfish. Often, giant catfish. Tasty little ones too. The North
Dakota record catfish was caught here in 1991, weighing in at 33 pounds
4 ounces. We've got lots of big walleye, northern pike and sauger too
.
Located on I-29, 40
minutes north of Grand Forks, ND and 90 minutes south of Winnipge, MB,
Drayton is popular for its giant catfish, gorgeous park and golf
course, swimming pool, good food, birding areas, small town atmosphere,

More Than Fish!
Fishing is great on the
Red River of the North, so is site seeing. We have a wide array
of critters, including bald eagle, beaver, deer, moose, assorted
waterfowl, and coyote, just to name a few. Many of them seem to
enjoy having their pictures taken. The area is a birding
paradise. Pictured below, a bald eagle in a tree along the
Red.
The area is also boasts a
rich history from the first American Indian dwellers to the early
explorers, fur traders, steamboats, railroad and pioneers. We
